Siegi Baumgartner, the founder of Siegi Tours was born in St. Veit im Pongau in the beautiful Salzburger Land / Austria and learned to ski with 2 and a half years of age. With 15 years of age he started his long term carrier as a ski instructor and ski school owner passing all exams possible in this skiing business like certified Austrian ski instructor, alpine ski guide, certified �SV Coach (Austrian Ski Association) and for 14 years member of the training team and examining board for Austrian ski instructors. |
He topped his carrier participating in the Olympics for Ski Instructors (Bad Gastein 1965) leading the Austrian Team � coached by Prof. Kruckenhauser � to the gold medal ahead of Japan, Italy and France.
While he was working as a trainer for the ski instructors he met members of the Wiesbaden Ski Club in 1968 who were trying to ski at the glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn but got themselves into really dangerous situations being total beginners and threatened by the big drops and cliffs of this high alpine area. He helped them to get down the hill safely and was invited to their party in the evening.
160 American skiers from Wiesbaden on their Thanksgiving trip to Kaprun! They promised to bring a group of skiers to
St. Veit the next year where Siegi had just opened his own ski school.
A big THANK YOU to Mr. Brian R. Kilgallen who organized the trip and thus helped the start of a family organization which would bring over 55000 skiers and snowboarders from all around the world into a growing ski area for more than 40 years. They left the little dreamy alpine village with unforgettable memories, many coming back year after year and passing the word about Siegi Tours.
The following year the Heidelberg Ski Club coming to Siegi Tours for 39 years now skied with Siegi as their ski instructor and entertainer in St. Veit and later in St. Johann im Pongau where he became the owner of the Red � White � Red Ski School as well.
Together with his wife Irene he managed to get most of the American ski clubs from Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and from the USA to ski in St. Veit and St. Johann/Alpendorf.
6 years later Mrs. Ann LeCornu who worked in an information centre for the British Royal Air Force / Army in Rheindahlen/Germany and her family visited Siegi Tours and was so enthusiastic about this great unique ski programme that she started promoting Siegi Tours and made it popular not only in all Germany but also in Great Britain and Cypress. |

The first Canadians discovering Siegi Tours came through the Canadian Air Force from the Black Forest in Lahr & Baden S�llingen area and we are happy that for over 35 years many Canadian Ski & Snowboard fans spend their winter holiday here with us and feel like being at home ever since.
Many years of promotion in the U.S., Great Britain and throughout Germany followed, always assisted by his wife Irene, a former sports and English student at the Sports High School and University of Cologne/Germany, working as a ski instructor in Siegi’s ski school until their daughters Kerstin and Silvana were born.
Throughout the years Siegi Tours made the ski school St. Johann /Alpendorf with over 100 ski instructors the fifth biggest ski school in the Salzburger Land and helped and supported the local ski area which is now part of the largest ski area in all Europe skiable on one lift pass – the Ski Amadè.
For more than 15 years Siegi Tours is organizing a very attractive Golf Safari in the summer time visiting the leading golf courses in Austria.
Mr. Ron Powell from Brüggen/Javelin Barracks was the first to bring a golf group to Siegi Tours!
All in all the Siegi Tours complete ski and golf package for a week or just single days is truly a holiday � one of a kind - with excellent value for money and attractive for singles, families, school and youth groups, private groups, ski clubs and units.
So, the roots of Siegi Tours go way back based upon the motivation to help skiers lost in the high mountain region. Today the SIEGI TOURS TEAM with Siegi, Irene, Kerstin, Silvana & Michael offer their helping hand wherever necessary to make your holiday a great and unforgettable one.
